ETCOG announces newly appointed officers, Executive Committee members, and an adopted $57.4 Million FY 2020 Budget resulting from its recent Semi-Annual Board of Directors Meeting held in Pittsburg on September 19th.
New ETCOG Executive Committee Officers and members have been elected and will serve in their new leadership roles for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2020. The Executive Committee meets monthly and is responsible for carrying out policies and programs established by and on behalf of the ETCOG Board of Directors. The Board appointed the following elected officials as the 2019-2020 ETCOG Officers:
Upshur County Commissioner Paula Gentry – Chairman
Commissioner Gentry began her service on the Executive Committee in March 2013. She is also the current Chair of the ETCOG East Texas Economic Development District Board, Aging Advisory Committee, and served on the FY 2020 Budget Committee and Building Sub-Committee.
City of Kilgore Councilwoman Merlyn Holmes – 1st Vice Chairman
Councilwoman Holmes joined the Executive Committee in October 2016, and serves on the 2020 Budget Committee, and Building Sub-Committee.
Panola County Judge LeeAnn Jones – 2nd Vice Chairman
Judge Jones joined the Executive Committee in October 2016, also serves on the Chief Elected Officials / Rural Transportation Planning Organization Board, and Budget Committee.
City of Lindale Councilman Bob Tardiff – 3rd Vice Chairman
Councilman Tardiff joined the Executive Committee in October 2014, served on the 2019 Nomination Committee, 2019 CEO Board Nomination Committee, and Budget Committee.
Harrison County Commissioner William Hatfield – Secretary-Treasurer
Commissioner Hatfield has served on the Executive Committee since October 2013 and served on the 2019 Chief Elected Officials Board Nomination Committee.
The Board approved two-year terms of service on the ETCOG Executive Committee for the following elected officials:
- Anderson County Judge Robert Johnston – Executive Committee member since November 2011
- Camp County Judge AJ Mason – Executive Committee member since November 2016
- Harrison County Commissioner William Hatfield – Executive Committee member since October 2013
- Henderson County Commissioner Ken Geeslin – Executive Committee member since June 2019
- Rusk County Commissioner Bill Hale – Executive Committee member since July 2004
- Van Zandt County Commissioner Tim West – New Member since October 2019
- City of Mineola Mayor Kevin White – Executive Committee member since June 2019
A FY 2020 Budget and Planning Guide for ETCOG operations was also approved by the Board. The $57,478,077 budget reflects an overall increase of $772,848 compared to the 2019 Budget. Most of this increase is reflected in the Transportation and Public Safety-911 programs due to additional funding received for capital equipment.
