Environmental Law Training Courses Offered by ETCOG

Day 1: Basic Environmental Law Training
Day 2: Intermediate Environmental Law Training
Illegal dumping has become a prevalent and unfortunate issue in various parts of East Texas. Addressing this problem is crucial for maintaining community well-being, but it's essential to recognize that tackling illegal dumping is primarily the responsibility of local governments, not the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
To equip local elected officials and officers with the necessary tools and provide continuing education credits, we are pleased to announce the Basic and Intermediate Environmental Law Trainings on July 30-31 in Longview.
Certified instructors from various Texas agencies will provide insight and information about the growing problem of illegal dumping and other environmental crimes. Subject areas include public nuisance, solid waste violations, illegal dumping, illegal outdoor burning, and water pollution.

It is highly recommended attendees take the basic environmental law training before taking the intermediate training as one builds off the other.
This workshop is partnered with the Capital Area Regional Environmental Task Force (RETF) — a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement effort in the CAPCOG region. This group was formed through an Interlocal Assistance Agreement signed in 1996 to address illegal dumping and various other environmental crimes.
Lunch will not be provided.
Continuing Education Credits (CEUs): Day 1, the course provides six (6) hours of TCOLE, Code Enforcement, or Sanitarian, and OSSF for all participants. Day 2, the course provides six (6) hours of TCOLE, Code Enforcement, or Sanitarian for all participants. OSSF credits are not available for the Intermediate Environmental Law course.
