Tuesday, June 30, the Area Agency on Aging of East Texas Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program, the Ark-TX Area Agency on Aging Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Service, Region 4/5 Regulatory Service Division will sponsor an educational seminar for staff members of all long-term care facilities in East Texas and for others who are interested in the improvement of quality of life and care in long-term care settings. This will be the Fifth Annual Joint Project. The seminar will be held in The Orneals Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road, Tyler, Texas.
The agenda will include Advance Directive and Other Documents, The CMS Five Star Quality Rating System, What it is Really Like Living in a Nursing Home, Geriatric Sensitivity and Seep Disorders in the Elderly. A panel of five residents will present "What it is Really Like Living in a Nursing Home." Presentations will be provided by DADS staff, Center for Medicare and Medicacid Services, Lake country Area health Education Center and a Senior Nursing Lecturer from the University of Texas in Tyler.
