Senior Home Repair and Modification

Services are available for minor home repairs for the elderly through the Area Agency on Aging. Housing East Texas administers this program through a cooperative relationship. Each year the waiting list is open for new Requests on October 1st. The list will close once the first 100 requests are received. Seniors (age 60+) are eligible for repairs once every five years. Requests can be made by calling 1.800.442.8845.
Allowable repairs must be minor in nature and directly affect the health or safety of the elderly clients. This includes those services which fall into the following categories:

Weatherization
Safety and Security Modifications
Essential Appliances (as part of overall home repairs)
In accordance with the applicable portions of TAC Title 40 and local policies, the following repairs are NOT allowable:

Construction, repair or maintenance of outbuildings such as garages, carports, animal shelters or greenhouses
Installation, repair or maintenance on non-essential appliances and fixtures
Beautification of property or activities which are strictly for cosmetic purposes
Installation, repair or maintenance on any septic system
Repair or maintenance to any structure with existing termite infestation/damage
House levelling
